What is a Freight Terminal

A freight terminal comprises several partners:

​

  • Trucks that transport freight to the terminal

  • Trains that transport freight from/to the terminal

  • Forklifts/crane/conveyor with which the cargo passes between the train and the truck

​

Loading Cargo

The freight terminal program should consider all these elements that work and move together inside the terminal. 

​

Accordingly, the following are defined:

 

  • Number and length of tracks.

  • Track tails for shunting.

  • The required area to store containers and allow easy movement for the forklift.

  • Connecting the terminal to the main tracks.

  • Connecting the terminal to factories branches.
